This drawing has been hanging around waiting to be posted for a week or so. The lion (from the Oriental Garden) and the plant were drawn on Christmas Eve. I decided I wanted a panorama behind them. At the same time I wanted to explore different parts of the Royal Botanic Gardens before my classes start in March. On a very humid morning we walked to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. There was a stiff breeze at the point so it was a wonderful place to be on a day like that. Nevertheless it was difficult managing a drawing over four concertina pages in the wind.
I’ve decided that although some of the more far-flung parts of the gardens are amazing, it’s just too far to walk for the classes because we’d be wasting valuable sketching time.
