This EDiM was ‘draw something ugly that you keep for sentimental reasons’. I kept this for many years for two reasons (1) I’d lost touch with Jim who gave it to me in the seventies. (2) Sometimes people came who needed an ashtray.
I found Jim again about 3 years ago. He was a trainee manager at the hotel I worked in, in the Channel Islands. We became friends through going on day trips to France (St Malo) together. After he graduated, he worked for a short time at the Playboy Club in Park Lane. When I was in London, we had afternoon tea there. Not long after that he went to work for P & O as a purser, and though we wrote for some years, we eventually lost touch.
Through an internet search, I found where Jim was working – at a very famous hotel in Los Angeles. I wrote to him and he contacted me right away. Shortly after that by chance he was coming here on holiday, so we had lunch.
Still with Roz Stendahl’s Strathmore course, I was battling with collage, when I used the ‘collage’ tag in Roz’s blog and found this and this and suddenly everything became clear and I glued till my gluestick ran out.
